GeoPura Multilingual Website Transformation

Turning a single-language website into an AI-ready international platform

Project Brief

GeoPura asked Smart Web Agency to deliver a fully managed multilingual website service that would help them expand into new international markets without having to create a separate website project every time a new language was required.

The brief was not simply to translate pages. GeoPura needed a dependable multilingual engine that could work with its existing website, support multiple languages, preserve the website’s design and user experience, and give its internal team the opportunity to review and refine content before it was published.

Our role was to update the existing website, make it ready for AI-assisted translation and implement a multilingual platform that GeoPura could continue to use as its international presence grows.

The Challenge

Launching new website languages through a traditional process can be slow, expensive and difficult to manage. Content has to be copied, translated, checked, added back into the website and then tested again. When this is repeated across a large website and several markets, it can take months and create a heavy reliance on individual translators or internal staff.

For GeoPura, the challenge was to create a much more scalable approach.

They needed a solution that could:

Work with the current WordPress website without rebuilding every page for each country.

Translate a large volume of existing content while keeping the website structure and layout intact.

Give GeoPura’s team time to review, amend and approve translations after the initial AI work had been completed.

Support languages with different requirements as the international rollout expands.

Include the core multilingual SEO foundations from the start.

Make future market launches faster, more predictable and more cost-effective.

A fully manual process across several languages could have taken up to 12 months. Every new territory would have risked becoming another expensive website project.

Our Approach

We began by reviewing GeoPura’s existing website and preparing it for multilingual content. We focused on creating a system that would be practical for the team to manage, rather than a one-off translation exercise.

We implemented WPML as the multilingual engine within WordPress and developed a custom plugin to connect the website with AI-assisted translations through DeepL.

The workflow was designed so that AI could complete the heavy lifting across the site, while GeoPura’s team retained control of the final content. This meant that the team could spend its time reviewing wording, terminology and market-specific changes, rather than manually copying and translating every page from the beginning.

At every stage, we tested the translated content within the live website structure to make sure layouts, navigation, links and key calls to action continued to work as intended.

The Solution

AI-ready multilingual website engine

We updated GeoPura’s existing WordPress website and made it ready for scalable multilingual delivery. The platform now provides one central website from which new language versions can be created and managed.

WPML and custom AI translation plugin

WPML provides the multilingual structure, while our custom plugin enables AI-assisted translations through DeepL. This allows the website to generate translated content quickly while keeping language versions organised within the same system.

Human review after AI translation

AI was used to speed up the first stage of translation, not replace GeoPura’s knowledge of its brand and market. Once content was generated, GeoPura’s team had time to review, amend and approve the translations before publishing. This gave the project the right balance of speed, cost control and quality.

International SEO built in

The multilingual engine was configured with the core international SEO foundations needed for language versions to be structured correctly from the beginning. This includes clear language-specific page structures, translated metadata and the technical signals needed to help search engines understand the relevant version of each page.

SEO was not treated as an afterthought. It was built into the multilingual setup from the first launch.

A repeatable route into new markets

GeoPura now has a platform that can support as many languages as the business requires. Expanding into a new territory no longer means starting a new website project or waiting months for a fully manual translation process.

Results

Delivered in two months

The multilingual platform, AI translation workflow and initial language rollout were completed within two months. A conventional, fully manual approach across several languages could have taken up to 12 months.

German and Italian are live

The first live language versions, German and Italian, are now available. The AI-assisted translations have been well received, giving GeoPura confidence to move forward with the next phase.

Danish and Spanish are next

With the multilingual engine already in place, Danish and Spanish can now be added through the same proven process without rebuilding the website from scratch.

Future languages can be generated in around two days

Instead of spending two to three months and thousands of pounds to prepare a new language website, GeoPura can now generate a full first version of a new language across its pages in around two days, followed by review and approval from its team.

Less dependency, better cost control

GeoPura is no longer reliant on a slow, people-dependent translation process for every market launch. The new platform gives the business a reliable system for expanding internationally, while keeping control with the people who know the brand and the market best.

The Impact

This project changed multilingual delivery from a major operational challenge into a repeatable business process.

GeoPura now has a fully managed multilingual website engine that combines WordPress, WPML, DeepL and Smart Web Agency’s own custom translation technology. The result is a faster, more cost-effective and more reliable way to enter new markets.

Instead of treating each new territory as a separate website project, GeoPura can focus on reviewing local content, approving the final language version and moving forward with confidence.

Next Phase for the Website Localisation

Following the successful German and Italian launches, Smart Web Agency is preparing the next phases in Danish and Spanish. The multilingual engine is designed to continue growing alongside GeoPura’s international plans.
