Generative AI-based Edutainment system – Smart Web Agency
During these last three or four years, much has been said and claimed about the potential of using Artificial Intelligence in our daily lives. Especially since Generative AI and Large Language Models have become so popular after the inception of GPT, people have started to become accustomed to the use of it for nearly every task in their day-to-day business.
Ranging from AI powered Chatbots to automated cold and audience targeted cold emails, Generative AI has really captured a lot of attention with its usefulness. We at Smart Web Agency also believe that Generative AI is an essential tool to include in the businesses from here on out. We also have a strong belief that using AI just for the sake of looking fancy and tech-savvy is not its core purpose. Rather, the AI being used should really be solving or facilitating in solving a problem.
How we used Generative AI
Such was the case in a project we did with one of our clients. The client wanted to develop an AI-based Edutainment system which educates its users on the use of inclusive language. For the last 4-5 decades, some language that has been used in the content has been found to be exclusive or offensive at times to people. The purpose for this AI-powered system was to offer the users to put their content in it, and the system would then be able to offer them a better selection of words, phrases and language that would be inclusive.
Our AI experts and engineers thought of GPT-3.5 Turbo as the best choice for this system to start off. But as has been seen in lots of cases, GPTs and other LLMs have also shown certain biases and can use offensive terminologies in their responses. To omit this, Prompt engineering techniques were applied to the prompt structure in order to ensure robust, bias-minimized and inclusive responses were generated by the model. Even after a long structured prompt of clear instructions, Context Window and Past Examples have to be considered as well for the model to perform efficiently. The prompt then had to be updated with some of the most offensive and exclusive-language content to be used as reference to refrain from.
This was a very successful project for us and for the client as well as they secured funding from Innovate UK. A big win for both of us!
